Finalists Annouced!

Just got a note from the head honcho of the Telus New Ventures Competition, Ms. Deborah Kirby.

Apparently, the jury met yesterday and selected the ten finalists in the 2006 TELUS New Ventures BC Competition. Please join me in congratulating the following teams/companies (in no particular order) who are invited to continue to round four:

• Sweet Power Inc.
• RFind Systems, Inc
• Powertab/Energy Aware Technology Inc.
• IQ Materials Inc.
• ConcreteVue
• Navi C
• Rollout
• ClearVision Technologies Inc.
• Master Underwater Tech Inc.
• JML Biopharm Inc.

These companies will present their businesses to the jury on September 14 or 15. The winners will be announced on stage at the awards ceremony on September 28th.

Now having delivered a keynote to this group in August, I can tell you, that these companies are 100% the real deal.  So take notice BC Advantage Fund, BDC Seed Fund, Growthworks and Ventures West, your next great portfolio company may be on this list.

In my book, these are all winners already. (smile)

Of course, my heart goes to Rollout (because of their Dragons' Den connection) but I try not to let my heart cloud my business judgment too much, so ---- may the "best" entrepreneur win!
